These new security measures were added after a contentious meeting on February 28th ended with Chairman-Supervisor Jack Sellers abruptly adjourning the meeting. They were first implemented at the next regular formal meeting of the Board which was held on March 13th.
The majority of speakers commenting on agenda items and during the Public Comment section of this meeting were hostile to the Board, evidenced by repeated disparaging remarks and statements made by speakers with apparent sarcasm directed at Board members. When the Public Comment and Calendar sections of the meeting became rancorous, Chairman-Supervisor Sellers abruptly adjourned.
Shortly before the meeting begins, at around 11:40 in the video, Chairman Jack Sellers announces that he will restrict comments during the meeting to ten minutes to each side, pro and con. The meeting was adjourned abruptly by Chairman Sellers during the Public Comment section.
